We’re leaving!

Since we came to Pumsaint in 2013 to an empty building that had not served a pint in more than six years, we have learned loads, worked hard to make this place a thriving business, been frankly flabergasted at our own success and felt the immense satisfaction of making our customers (mostly) happy with what we do every day. After five years the time has come for us to seek out new challenges and new adventures, so we decided that last year would be the final one for us at Dolaucothi. There are only a few weeks left for us now in this beautiful place and though we are happy and excited to be moving on, the reality of leaving is starting to hit home and we know we’ll be sad to go when we finally do.

We’ve met so many wonderful people from all walks of life and hope to keep in contact with as many as possible; after a little R&R we will be making new plans for a food business in South Wales that will most likely involve pies! If you would like to keep in touch with us please email us at hubertandjoy@gmail.com to be added to our mailing list, or just to say hi, or follow us on instagram @littlewelshpub  (handle changing to something less pub related in March!).

The practicalities – Our last day will be Sunday the 4th of March and we will be open and serving food and drinks up just we have always done up until that day. We don’t expect the pub to close for a long period, the new tenants will taking over as we leave but exact details of what will happen then are still to be confirmed and we will keep you posted.

We have just two more Pie Nights – Jan 17th an Feb 21st, and one more Indian Night – Feb 7th, so we recommend booking nice and early for any of those. There will of course be a leaving party, currently percolating ideas for that one so watch this space!

Above all we want to thank all our customers for their support over the past five years, please come and see us one last time if you can before we give up the mantle of Landlord and Landlady for good.

Pie Night – February 15th

After it’s little Christmas break, pie night is back again on the third Wednesday of the month. Homemade pie and a pint for £11, £14 gets you pie, pint and pud. Three pie fillings, one of which will be veggie – (it’s a good idea to let us know if you are a vegetarian when booking so we can reserve you a veggie pie).

Booking is highly recommended – we are sometimes full on pie night and, since we bake the pies fresh for the service, supplies of pies are limited (and all we serve on pie night is pie) so please call before making a journey, even if it’s at 7pm on the night!

Weatherman Walking at Dolaucothi Goldmines

In the new series of the BBC’s Weatherman Walking, Derek Brockway visits our near neighbors at Dolaucothi Goldmines. Head guide Emyr showed Derek around the mines and estate and even brought him to the pub (thanks Emyr!). They picked a great day and the area looks gorgeously green and sunny (it always looks like that, promise) and you can catch us right at the end as Derek and Emyr enjoy the weather and a pint in the pub garden.

You can watch the episode on the iplayer, or better yet, come and enjoy the walk Emyr and Derek did, you can set out right from our front door!
