The Dolaucothi Arms, Pumsaint, Carmarthenshire, SA19 8UW                    Tel: 01558 650237

The Dolaucothi Arms is in the village of Pumsaint (sometimes spelled Pumpsaint) on the A482 between Lampeter and Llandovery. Once you are in the village the pub is very hard to miss – our car park is at the front of the building and there is also a free National Trust opposite.

Getting Here…

By Car

Most sat navs will get you here successfully (to SA19 8UW), but if you prefer things old school here are some directions– best used in conjunction with a good road atlas.

By Public Transport

The nearest train stations are Llandovery and Llanwrda (which is closer, but trains are much less frequent). The journey is about three hours from Bristol. The best way to get to us from the station is by taxi which should be booked in advance, ask us when booking and we can give you the number of a local company.

Bike and by Foot

We are not well served by traffic free cycle paths – but the area is very popular with road cyclists and most drivers are very considerate. There are some interesting rides along the country lanes, with some challenging hills! If you are just popping in for a drink there are bicycle racks in the National Trust car park across the road, if you will be staying with us we can lock bikes in our wood shed. You can hang up wet gear and shoes in the boiler room, so you don’t have to have them in yours!

Directions

From The South (London/Bristol/Cardiff)

(There are a couple of routes you could take, but this is our favourite for scenery and speed)

If you are coming from England, take the M4 over the Severn Bridge (you can pay the toll with cash or card nowadays). Leave the motorway at junction 32 and take the first exit onto the A470 towards Merthyr Tydfil. After about 30 miles (of awesome scenery) turn left onto the A4215 towards Sennybridge. After about 5 miles you will come to a junction – turn left onto the A40 toward Llandovery.

After about 16 miles reach Llandovery – continue on the A40 through town. After about 4 miles turn right onto the A482 signposted to Lampeter. Continue along this road for 8 miles, you will see the Pumsaint sign as you enter the village, the pub is on your left.

From the East (via Brecon)

Take the A40 from Brecon to Llandovery. Continue through Llandovery town. After about 4 miles turn right onto the A482 signposted to Lampeter. Continue along this road for 8 miles, you will see the Pumsaint sign as you enter the village, the pub is on your left.

From the South West (via Llandeilo)

Take the A40 from Llandeilo to Llandovery. After about 8 miles turn left onto the A482 signposted to Lampeter. Continue along this road for 8 miles, you will see the Pumsaint sign as you enter the village; the pub is on your left.
